Under normal circumstances, it'd make sense that a new Fable game could be made in the three years between now and Fable Fortune's release.
WHEN WILL FABLE 4 RELEASE SERIES
Maybe it's time for Nyiri to revisit the idea of a Fable remake and give it its own fresh lick of paint in the Unreal Engine 5? While we wait, Fable 4's upcoming release should remind us why we fell in love with the series in the first place.However, the announcement of the Fable reboot isn't the same as a new Fable game coming out three years later. Epic Games has just started showing off the Unreal Engine 5 and what looks like it could blow the competition out of the water. Let's also remember even the Unreal Engine 4 is a bit old hat. Only recently, we saw how Bluepoint Games' remake of Demon's Souls was a huge hit for the Sony and became one of the PlayStation 5's biggest launch games. Even if the Unreal Engine 4 remake is just a bit of fun, it could spark an idea over at Microsoft.
While Lionhead Studios has sadly folded, Playground Games is powering ahead with Fable 4 and hired a whole new staff to focus on the project. If Fable 4 is a success, it will surely give Microsoft the kick up the backside it needs. It may have taken 11 years, but at least the upcoming reboot is ready to cast a spell on us all. Apart from Anniversary, we haven't had a proper main series entry since Fable III all the way back in 2010. Following the collapse of Fable Legends in 2016, some doubted we'd ever return to this fantasy world. For years, we'd been asking when/if Microsoft would make the next move with the stagnant franchise. It's important to remember Nyiri made their Fable remake before Fable 4 was announced. Still, it's easy to see just how far we've come in graphical capabilities. For the time being, you're stuck watching the walkthrough on YouTube. For the time being, Nyiri hasn't made the level open to the public, meaning you can't actually walk through this detailed reimagining for yourselves. It's a far cry from what Fable looked like back in the day, and is even a massive improvement on Anniversary's version of the game. Aside from the release of Fable: The Lost Chapters (which was basically a whole new game) in 2005, there was Fable: Anniversary in 2014 as a high-definition remake for the Xbox 360. The first Fable hit the Xbox back in 2004 and spawned a whole franchise that still has a lot of fans to this day. Still, with so many remakes and remasters also topping the charts, it's led some to ask whether we'll also get a next-gen version of the OG Fable. With the next-gen release of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, it makes perfect sense that this new era also ushers in the next chapter of Fable lore.
